About Randolph Persaud
An expert on foreign policy and human security, Dr. Randy Persaud studied political science and history at York University in Toronto, Canada. Graduating with a bachelor of arts, he entered the graduate program and wrote a thesis titled Petroleum and Development in Mexico, before receiving a master of arts in political science. Dr. Randy Persaud also holds a PhD in political science from his alma mater.
Dedicating his career to academia, Dr. Persaud started off as a research assistant and tutorial instructor at York University. Subsequently, he led lectures in the Department of Political Science and took on the role of assistant director at the Centre for International and Strategic Studies. At the latter, Dr. Persaud spent a year conducting research on multilateral institutions and global security.
In 2003, he joined American University as an associate professor in the School of International Service. In addition to hosting lectures in a top-rated international relations master’s program, he leads as director of comparative and regional studies. He travels often to share his knowledge of globalization and the politics of identity at forums worldwide.
